Red River by Rob Wiffin is a piece full of raw energy for symphonic wind band. The title is about the feeling engendered by the name rather than a reference to a specific place. In the composer's mind it is a river colored red by the dust of the earth in a hot, sun-drenched landscape. Full of fiery rhythmic drive and syncopation carried along by Latin percussion, performers will enjoy the vigor and verve of the music.
