Mangrove for Orchestra - Score

Mangrove’s central musical idea is a haunting Japanese saibara court tune called Ise-no-Umi. It appears on several occasions, each time played fuori di passo, literally ‘out-of-step’. Contrasted with the stabbing trumpet and percussion interjections, and a complete absence of wind instruments it makes for a fascinating soundworld.
